TELECOMS’ HIGHEST MARK OF ACHIEVEMENT SINCE 1999
In 1999 Total Telecom launched the first ever World Communication Awards with the winners named in Geneva during the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) World Telecom event.
The winners and categories reflected the era with prizes going to companies including Equant, World Online, and Sonera. The 'Best e-commerce service' category was won by American company stamps.com for an innovative service enabling users to purchase and print out postage stamps from the internet!
26 years on, the industry has moved on. The company names have changed, the categories have evolved, but still winners pick up the same iconic sail trophy at a gala dinner packed with their peers from the industry.
